Pakistan’s Test opener Abid Ali was rushed to a hospital after complaining of chest pain during a match in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. He has now undergone an angioplasty after the cardiac surgeons diagnosed him with the acute coronary syndrome.
The syndrome, in layman’s terms, means there was a blockage of blood flow in his heart. The 34-year-old was batting on 61 for the Central Punjab side against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the UBL complex when he called for help.
The team manager rushed him to a hospital nearby where he has been in stable condition. Ali revealed that he was okay and requested the fans to pray for his quick recovery in a message from the hospital room on Wednesday.
“He has undergone angioplasty and a stent has been inserted in one vein and he will undergo another small procedure before he is discharged from hospital,” a source from the Pakistan board was quoted as saying.
