Mohammad Rizwan offering Namaz on the ground surrounded by Hindus was the best thing: Waqar Younis

During the match, Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan, who remained unbeaten on 79, happened to offer prayers on the field between drink breaks.

Waqar Younis, who resigned as Pakistan cricket team’s bowling coach along with head coach Misbah-ul-Haq last month, said he felt great that Rizwan did his Namaaz in front of many ‘Hindus’ was a great moment to watch.

“The manner in which Babar and Rizwan batted, the strike-rotation, the look on their faces, it was amazing. The best thing, what Rizwan did, Mashallah, he offered the Namaz on the ground surrounded by Hindus, that was really something very special for me,” said Waqar on ARY News.

Indian sports commentator Harsha Bhogle did not seemed happy with the former Pakistan pacer’s comment and seeked an apology from him.

“For a person of Waqar Younis’ stature to say that watching Rizwan offering namaz in front of Hindus was very special to him, is one of the most disappointing things I have heard. A lot of us try hard to play such things down and talk up sport and to hear this is terrible,” bhogle wrote on his social media handles.
