The Afghanistan cricket team will be hosting Pakistan for a white-ball series in the UAE in August/September this year ahead of the T20 World Cup, which is also likely to be shifted to the UAE owing to the dire Covid-19 situation in India.

According to a report in thenews.com.pk,  boards of both sides are in discussions of arranging the series. The series will comprise 3 ODIs and as many T20Is. Babar Azam’s side is currently scheduled to tour England and West Indies in July and August.

It has been reported that they will also host New Zealand and England prior to the T20 World Cup, which commences in mid-October. The Afghanistan series would be sandwiched between those games.

Earlier in February this year, senior Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi had lunch with Pakistan’s PM, Imran Khan. Nabi said Khan had promised to allow a cricket series to take place between the two nations. This was revealed by sports journalist Saj Sadiq, who tweeted Nabi’s comments.

“Meeting Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan was exciting. We had lunch & had a photoshoot with him. We asked him to give Afghanistan a series with Pakistan and he has promised that. We enjoyed that meeting and discussed some cricket things with him,” Nabi was quoted as saying.
