Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of Maharashtra, has talked about his achievement of hitting seven sixes in one over against Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 second quarterfinal in Ahmedabad.

He acknowledged that he was aware of Yuvraj Singh, who had hit six sixes in a single over during a T20 World Cup match against England in 2007, and he added that he was thrilled to be listed with the icon.

On Monday, November 28, Gaikwad made history by becoming the first batter in a List A game to knock seven sixes in a single over. After winning the toss, Uttar Pradesh elected to bat first, however it was a poor choice because the Maharashtra captain played in outstanding form.

He faced left-arm spinner, Shiva Singh, in the penultimate over and beat him, hitting him over the ropes seven times, including one six off a no-ball.

The right-handed batter reviewed his incredible achievement in a video that was uploaded to BCCI.TV. When asked what he was thinking before hitting the sixth six, Gaikwad said:

“To be honest, after the fifth six, only one name came to mind: Yuvraj Singh.” I saw him knock six sixes in an over in the World Cup when I was quite little. I wanted to be there with him. That’s why I chose the sixth option. And obviously, I was overjoyed when I nailed it. “

“I never imagined in my dreams that I would hit six sixes in one over.” It’s a terrific delight and a great sensation to be associated with his name (Yuvraj) and match the buzz that exists around six or seven sixes in an over.”

Yuvraj chased down pacer Stuart Broad during India vs. England matchup in the 2007 T20 World Cup in Durban and hammered him for six straight sixes. The southpaw and England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff got into a fight during the previous over. Sadly, Broad had to take the brunt of Yuvraj’s wrath.
