All The Lads Are Behind Ben Stokes And Supporting Him Where We Can: Jack Leach

England left-arm orthodox Jack Leach had heaped praise on all-rounder Ben Stokes for his decision to take an indefinite break from the game.

Leech believes that Ben Stokes has shown incredible bravery and courage to prioritize his mental health.

The ECB, on Friday, confirmed that Ben Stoked has decided to take a break from the game in order to prioritize his mental health and to give rest to his index finger which hasn’t fully healed.

Leach said that the entire England squad is behind Ben Stokes and that they can’t wait to welcome him back in the squad as and when he does decide to return

“All the lads are behind Ben and supporting him where we can. He has shown courage and bravery to prioritize his mental health. He is a focal part of our team and we will miss him,” ESPNcricinfo quoted Leach as saying.

“His priority is to take some time out from the game to get better. We can’t wait to welcome him back in the near future and winning games of cricket for England,” he added

As a result, England will be without the services of their talismanic all-rounder during the upcoming five-match Test series against India.

Meanwhile, England’s Director of Cricket Ashley Giles also lauded Ben Stokes for showing incredible courage in opening up about his feelings and well being

“Ben has shown tremendous courage to open up about his feelings and wellbeing. Our primary focus has always been and will continue to be the mental health and welfare of all of our people. The demands on our athletes to prepare and play elite sport are relentless in a typical environment, but the ongoing pandemic has acutely compounded this.”
