The much-awaited Ashes 2023 is set to commence on 16th June. England Cricket Board (ECB) have been dealt with a massive blow as the lethal right-arm speedster Jofra Archer is out of the entire English Summer. ECB’s decision to send Jofra Archer for IPL 2023 didn’t work well.

Head coach Brendon McCullum & skipper Ben Stokes will have a strenuous task on their hand to find a like-for-like replacement for Jofra Archer. We witnessed in Ashes 2019, that how Jofra Archer dictated the terms against the Aussies and took 22 wickets in 4 matches.

Aussies would be eager to end the drought of 22 years as Australia haven’t won Ashes in England since 2001. The Pat Cummins-led side would be tested as there is only a 3-4 days gap between WTC 2021-23 final against India (7th June -12th June) & Ashes 2023 which can be a problem.

All eyes would be on David Warner who hasn’t been able to dictate the terms in red-ball cricket. The left-handed batter had a torrid BGT 2023. England’s bowlers would be aware of Steven Smith who has a fascinating record as in Ashes 2019, he had amassed 774 runs in 4 matches.

According to some reports, it is believed that ECB are going to keep 60-meter boundaries to make the game more interesting. It would be interesting to see whether this happens and if it does then most likely it will be a nightmare for the bowlers.

James Anderson was having an interaction with Sky Sports News. James Anderson stated that he is gutted to see Olly Stone and Jofra Archer get ruled out of the season. James Anderson suggested that now Jofra Archer should manage his workload and focus on particular formats.

“I’m gutted for both of those guys, Jofra in particular because he’s had a tough few years with that elbow. It just keeps coming back and niggling at him, so I’m absolutely gutted for him. I know how hard he has worked to try to get back fit and I hope it’s not too bad and he can get back as soon as possible,” said James Anderson.

“When you see someone struggle with the same sort of injuries, I think it’s only sensible to try to manage your workload and whether that’s playing one format or two then that’s probably a sensible thing to do. That’s something he’ll have to work out with the coaches going forward,” he added.
