AUS vs ENG Match Preview, England tour of Australia 2022. Australia is all set to play against England for a 3-match T20I series beginning this Sunday. The home side has just beaten West Indies 2-0 in a T20I series at home and will be confident of their chances.

Australia beat West Indies by 13 runs to complete a 2-0 T20I series clean sweep in Brisbane. David Warner (75 off 41) and Tim David (42 off 20) powered Australia to post a total of 178/7 after being put into bat. Tim David, for Australia, has scored 116 runs in five matches, including a half-century against India. He boasts of an impressive 170.58 for Australia so far, playing largely down at No.6.

Matthew Wade continued his golden run as Australia’s finisher and Aaron Finch, batting at No. 4 for the first time in his international career, scored a welcome half-century to nurse Australia to an untidy three-wicket win with a ball to spare on the Gold Coast in the 1st T20I.

However, England is in red-hot form and beat Pakistan on their home turf with a relatively less experienced squad. This will be an interesting match-up but England appears to have a slight edge as of now. Despite Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam being the highest run-getters in the series, Harry Brook, Ben Duckett, Dawid Malan and Phil Salt also put up impressive performances.

The likes of England pacers Sam Curran, David Willey, Mark Wood and Reece Topley also impressed with the ball. Stand-in skipper Moeen Ali had the best average.

As the 2022 T20I World Cup draws closer, Australia are juggling its resources to ensure their players remain fresh for the big tournament. They have rested their frontline attack for the first T20I against England in Perth on Sunday and the team will be without the services of the pace trio of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, and spinner Adam Zampa in that game.

Even all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been given a game off. Spinner Mitchell Swepson and pacer Nathan Ellis have been added for the first game, while all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, pacer Kane Richardson, and spinner Ashton Agar also return to the squad.

Cameron Green is in red-hot form and should open alongside David Warner. Skipper Aaron Finch got some runs in the series against the West Indies. Meanwhile, the team will also keenly observe all-rounder Mitchell Marsh who will be crucial for their chances. Matthew Wade has been sensational as the finisher in recent times and the England bowlers would be wary of him. Tim David, who has been hitting some lusty hits down the order, is another one to watch out for.

England will be riding high on confidence after beating Pakistan 4-3 at Pakistan with their second-string side. In fact, they would have won the T20I series 6-1 had they not made a few silly errors. For this series, many of their main players have returned, including Jos Buttler, Liam Livingstone, and star all-rounder Ben Stokes.

It will be interesting to see how the visitors use batter Harry Brook who was the leading run-getter of the side in the series against Pakistan with 238 runs in 6 innings at a strike rate of 163. Phil Salt is another batter to watch out for. His breathtaking knock of 88 off 41 balls in the 6th T20I against Pakistan showed what the opening batter is capable of.

Pacer Chris Jordan too returns to the squad for this series and is expected to start straight away. Pacer Mark Wood had a good series against Pakistan and will surely enjoy bowling at Perth. Leg-spinner Adil Rashid will play a crucial role during the middle overs.
