Throughout the first two Tests, the Proteas batters failed to cope up with the pace from the Australian bowlers. Dean Elgar‘s form is the biggest cause of concern for the Proteas. He has averaged 7.75 in the first two Test scoring only 31 runs in four innings.

South Africa have now lost four back to back Test matches. They lost two against England in September last year and two against Australia. The Proteas last won a Test match in August beating England at Lord’s. in the first of the three-match series.
