Australia beat South Africa by six wickets inside two days in the first Test of the three-match series at Brisbane’s Gabba. The Proteas set a target of 34 runs for Australia after being bowled out for 99 runs in their second innings, and the Aussies chased it down for the loss of four wickets.

Australia bundled out South Africa for 152, and Nathan Lyon and Mitchell Starc both took three wickets, while Pat Cummins and Scott Boland each took two. In the first innings, Australia’s batsmen struggled against the Proteas’ pace attack, but Travis Head’s batting masterclass helped the Aussies take a 66-run lead.

We Will Never Go Down Without Fight – Kagiso Rabada

Rabada stated that they bowled well in the bits and then bowled very poorly in the bits. He believes that South African players will never go down without a fight, no matter what the situation.

“I thought we bowled really well in bits, then we bowled quite poorly in bits. I think when we were on top of our game, it definitely made a huge impression.”

“The one thing we possess as South Africans … is that we will never go down without a fight,” Rabada said. “Although Australia needed 34 runs [and we were] getting a whole lot of stick from the crowd, we have come out here to play. It doesn’t matter what the situation is. We’ll always go down fighting.”

Kagiso Rabada finished the second inning with 4-13 off four overs. The match was 145.2 overs long, and 34 wickets fell, making it the second-shortest Test ever played in Australia.

It Looked Quite Bad Out There For The Batters – Kagiso Rabada

The 27-year-old sympathized with batters from both teams, stating that the conditions appeared to be quite bad for the batters out there, with balls doing heaps.

“It looked quite bad out there for the batters. Balls were absolutely doing heaps. As a bowler, you always want something in the wicket, most definitely, but that’s out of our control. Let’s see what we’re dealt [in Melbourne]. We have to embrace whatever we’re given.”
