In an interview with Cricket.com.au, Aaron Finch emphasized the importance of giving the new skipper and opener ample time before the 2024 T20 World Cup. In June, West Indies and the USA will host the ICC competition.

“You must give the new opening batter and whoever takes over as team captain adequate time and space to settle into their positions and a tremendous opportunity to make the team their own over the following 18 months. I’ve had the bloody good fortune to play for 12 years, and I believe the time is right for me to leave the team at this point,” Finch said.
