Bangladesh and Ireland go head to head in the third BAN vs IRE ODI in Sylhet on March 23, Thursday. The second ODI ended in no-result after Bangladesh posted 349/6 in their 50 overs. Rain prevented Ireland from batting any further in the match. The Irish still has a chance to draw the series by winning the final ODI.
Musfiqur Rahim scored the fastest century for a Bangladesh batsman in the previous ODI. He scored 100* off 60 balls taking his team to a daunting total. Sadly there was no Irish response with the bat. Heading into the third ODI which is also the decider of the series, Tamim Iqbal will lead the hosts while Andrew Balbirnie will lead the visitors.

This series is not a part of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup Super League but is quite significant for the Irish team. Currently, Ireland is placed 11th on the table with 68 points from 21 matches whereas Bangladesh is already qualified. Ireland are out of the reckoning for direct qualification and will now have to play the qualifiers.
In Bangladesh, Ireland will participate in three one-day internationals (ODIs), three Twenty20 internationals (T20Is), and one test match. The Tigers are fresh off their T20I series win against England and had their grip firmly over the Irish in the first ODI.

The Irish team are on the road at the moment starting with this ODI series which will culminate with a one-off Test match against England at Lord’s from June 1-4. In case they fail to qualify directly for the World Cup, Ireland will need to play the qualifiers in Zimbabwe between 18 June to 9 July.
The three ODIs are set to be played on March 18, 20, and 23 in Sylhet, The T20Is are scheduled to take place on March 26, 28, and 30 in Chattogram. The one-off Test will be played in Dhaka from April 4-8.
