BAN vs NZ- Prediction, Today’s Winner, Most Runs, Most Wickets: 3rd T20I, New Zealand tour of Bangladesh 2021. Bangladesh took a 2-0 lead in the five-match T20 series after beating New Zealand by 4 runs in the second T20 international on Friday. Unlike the first game, the second game was a closely fought contest between the two sides.
Bangladesh batted first and notched 141 runs in the first innings. Their openers gave them an assured start. Bangladesh had scored 59 runs in 9.3 overs without losing a single wicket. Given the nature of the pitch, it was a good start, to say the least. Liton Das and Naim played with little risk but ensured they sent the bad balls to boundaries ropes.
New Zealand, however, made a comeback after Rachin Ravindra sent Liton Das (39) back to the pavilion in the 10th over. Mushfiqur Rahim (0) and Shakib Al Hasan (12 off 7) too were sent back in the space of the next 8 balls. Mahudullah, however, stuck to the crease and built partnerships with Naim and Nurul Hassan. Naim made 39 off 39 before getting out in the 16th over.
Bangladesh skipper made great use of the pace offered by the seamers and scored some valuable runs in the final four overs. He played a valiant 37-run knock of 32 balls and propelled the team to 141 in 20 overs.
New Zealand openers, for the second time in a row, got succumbed to spin early on in the innings. Tom Blundell (6) and Ravindra (10) got out inside the first four overs. In a bid to resurrect the innings, Tom Latham promoted himself to number three and played the anchor. He added 43 runs for the third wicket alongside Will Young.
The latter, unfortunately, got out in the 11th over, which saw a shift in momentum. Young scored 22 off 28 balls. Colin de Grandhomme and Henry Nicholls didn’t trouble the scorers much as the two got out for 8 and 6 respectively.
Bangladesh made great control of the game during the middle period but Latham held firm. He continued finding boundaries and took the team as close to the target as possible. Cole McConchie, who scored 15 off 12, also gave good support at the other end. The equation, in the end, came down to 20 off the final over and further reduced to 8 in the last 2 deliveries.
Latham, however, could only manage 3 runs in those deliveries as New Zealand lost the game by 4 runs. Tom Latham ended as the highest run-scorer in the game, scoring 65 off 49 balls.
