England National Cricket Team Test captain and star all-rounder, Ben Stokes, is all set to skip the upcoming The Hundred competition to focus more on his Test captaincy job.

Stokes was appointed as the Test captain of the England National Cricket Team after an awful run of the team under the leadership of Joe Root. Also, former New Zealand National Cricket Team captain Brendon McCullum replaced Chris Silverwood as head coach of the England Test team.

So far, England have been undefeated under the leadership of Ben Stokes, having registered dominant wins over New Zealand and India by chasing the targets.

Meanwhile, the Hundred is all set to begin on August 3 and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has arranged a two-week window for the Test players to play for their respective franchises. However, Stokes has decided to take a break instead of playing for the Northern Superchargers.

Also, white-ball stars of England including the likes of Liam Livingstone and Jason Roy will be playing the entire competition as the limited-overs series between England and South Africa will be over by July 31.

Notably, Stokes will return to action in the Test series against South Africa. The first match of the three-match Test series between England and South Africa will begin on August 17 at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, London.

The 31-year-old Ben Stokes has been rested for the T20I series against South Africa to manage the workload and fitness. However, the all-rounder will feature in the ODI series against South Africa.

England and South Africa are set to play a three-match ODI series, which will be played from July 19 to July 24. Also, they will play a three-match T20I series, which will be played from July 27 to July 31.

Meanwhile, Stokes’s Durham team-mate Matthew Potts, who has performed brilliantly for England in the 4 Test games he has played so far, has received his maiden ODI call-up for the South Africa series. Also, Adil Rashid and Jonny Bairstow have been included in both ODI and T20I squads for the South Africa series.
