Indian cricketer Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award for March 2021. The Indian pacer won the award after he impressed fans with his bowling performance during T20I and ODI series against England last month. The International Cricket Council announced the winners of the award on Tuesday (April 13).

Among women cricketers, Lizelle Lee won the ICC Women’s Player of the Month Award for March 2021. Last month, she smashed a century and two half-centuries against India in the four ODIs she played. He also moved to the top of the ICC Women’s ODI batting rankings after her spectacular knocks against India.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar Reacts On Becoming ICC Player Of The Month For March 2021

Bhuvneshwar Kumar thanked fans and everyone who voted for him for the award. He also said that he was delighted to play for India after a long and painful gap.

“After what seemed like a really long and painful gap, I was delighted to be playing for India again. I used the time away to work on my fitness and skill and I am happy to be back taking wickets for my country.

“I would like to thank each and every person who helped me in this journey starting from my family and friends and my teammates. Also, a special thank you to the ICC voting academy and all the fans who voted for me and made me the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar said.

After suffering an injury last year in October during IPL 2020, the right-arm pacer Bhuvneshwar returned to the field in the T20I and ODI series against England in March 2021.

In the 5 T20Is against England, Bhuvneshwar scalped 4 wickets at an average of 28.75. In the three ODIs against England, Bhuvi picked 6 wickets at an average of 22.50. He was praised for his economical bowling during the tournament.

In IPL 2021, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is part of Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the first match against Kolkata Knight Riders, he bowled 4 overs and conceded 45 runs while picking 1 wicket. His 20th over in the first innings turned out to be a bit expensive after he gave away 15 runs. Bhuvneshwar ended on a losing side after Sunrisers Hyderabad lost the match to Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 runs.
