Can't Really Blame The Indian Batsmen As The Australian Bowlers Were At Their Best- Brad Hogg

Former Australian leg-spinner Brad Hogg has hailed Australia’s brilliant bowling effort on the third afternoon of the pink-ball Test at the Adelaide Oval, claiming that this was the best he has seen Australian bowlers ever bowl.

With the Test match evenly poised at the end of the second day, Australia needed something special from its bowlers to help them negate the crucial 53-run lead that India had gained after the first innings.

And, the duo of Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood did just that, and with absolute disdain. The duo bowled probing line-and-lengths and was absolutely relentless in their display, and it took them just 92 balls on the third afternoon to knock over India for their record-lowest Test total of 36.

”I thought the Australian bowlers in that second innings were superb. They put the ball on a penny. I think this is the best the Australian bowlers have ever bowled. You can’t change what they delivered. There was a little bit of seam movement there as well.” Brad Hogg said on his official Youtube channel in response to a query by a fan who had asked if it was the case of Indians batting poorly or Australian bowlers being just too good.

If there was one error that Brad Hogg feels that Indian batsmen need to iron out, it is their lack of foot movement. Hogg added that a majority of the Indian batsmen were playing away from their bodies. He, however, felt that it will be unfair to put too much blame on the visitors batting-unit since they were undone by an Australian attack who were at the peak of their powers on the third afternoon.

“The Indian batsmen had to change if anything, if there was a small query about the Indian batsmen it was that they were stuck on the crease and they didn’t move their feet.” Brad Hogg said.

”They were playing away from their body. They were chasing that seaming delivery and they came unstuck. But I can’t really put too much blame on the Indian batsmen because they were under so much pressure and it was a roll-on effect and Australia had their day.” he added.

The former Australian cricketer signed off by saying that he doesn’t expect the same to happen in the rest of the series and he is hopeful that the rest of the Indian batsmen will rise to the occasion and come back stronger in Virat Kohli’s absence.

“I don’t expect this to happen again through this Test series. I think India are going to work things out very quickly and come back stronger and better for it. And Virat Kohli is not going to be there, so some of these younger players have to lift.” he signed off.
