A sting operation was carried out on the chief selector Chetan Sharma. Chetan Sharma was sacked after India’s exit from T20 WC 2022.  Surprisingly, he got re-elected in 2023 which raised a lot of eyebrows. The former cricketer received a lot of flak when he changed captains quite frequently from 2019 -2021

Chetan Sharma revealed in the sting operation that the board didn’t want Virat Kohli as a skipper. It won’t be wrong to say that this is a massive setback to BCCI as the board is not only considered to be the richest one but at the same time, they have got a huge pedigree.

Chetan Sharma was asked in the sting operation about the speedster Jasprit Bumrah.

“Jasprit Bumrah was unable to bend as he had a major injury other than that there are one or two players who take injections in private and they are fit to play.” said Chetan Sharma.

Huge Blow for BCCI

If the statements made by Chetan Sharma are believed to be true then they will have a severe impact on Indian Cricket. BCCI President Roger Binny must take strict action. It would be interesting to see if BCCI removes Chetan Sharma from the chief selector post after this sting operation as these claims are quite shocking.

This sting operation also raises questions about the then BCCI President Sourav Ganguly. We witnessed how Virat Kohli & Sourav Ganguly had verbal spats which affected Indian Cricket as India lost Test Series against South Africa in  South Africa 2021-22 despite winning the 1st Test match. The billion people would be hoping that this sting operation doesn’t affect the Men in Blue which are slated to play the 2nd Test match on 17th February against the mighty Aussies.
