The open war between the two members of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), Vinod Rai and Diana Edulji has become a common issue in recent times. Meanwhile, the former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar said that CoA had become a laughing stock.

However, the issue of the appointment of the India women’s team coach eventually witnessed the chaos in the cricket administration.

Vengsarkar is not happy with the raising concerns. He added that appointment and sacking of coaches had left the Board and cricket teams in complete dismay.

“The happenings in the BCCI are a concern to former cricketers like us. The appointment and sacking of the national teams’ coaches shows that the administration in the Board is in a complete mess, and so is Indian cricket right now. The way it has handled things, the CoA has become a laughing stock,” Vengsarkar told TOI.

Moreover, in October, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, too, had criticised the functioning of the apex court-appointed body.

Furthermore, the 62-year-old is confused that who should appoint or sack coaches. He also said that there should be proper justification and inspection if there is any fault with the coach.

One at the helm should take any decision if the skipper of the team says anything against the coach.

The former cricketer also added the choice of appointing and sacking should be in the hands of the administration, and the players should not involve themselves in this kind of grave matter.

“I really don’t know what’s happening. Does it come under the CoA jurisdiction to appoint or sack coaches? I feel it’s wrong to sack a coach because the captain is saying something against the coach, and also incorrect to hire a coach because the skipper desires so. It should be totally an administrative decision. I can’t understand how the players come into the picture in this matter,” Vengsarkar felt.
