Coming Back Post Pregnancy In 6 Months And Playing International Cricket Is So Inspiring – Smriti Mandhana Lauds Pakistan Captain Bismah Maroof

Star Indian opener Smriti Mandhana showered praise on the Pakistan skipper Bismah Maroof after the World Cup clash between India and Pakistan and stated that playing international cricket just 6 months after pregnancy is “inspiring”.

India defeated Pakistan in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 match on March 6, by 107 runs at the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui and Madhya Pradesh cricketer Pooja Vastrakar won the Player of the Match award.

Meanwhile, after the game, Indian women’s players including Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Renuka Singh Thakur, Meghna Singh and Richa Ghosh had a fun time playing with Pakistan captain’s daughter, Fatima.

After the game, star opener Mandhana took to Instagram to assert :

“Coming back post pregnancy in 6 months and playing international cricket is so inspiring. @bismahmaroof setting an example for sportswoman across the globe. Lots of love to baby Fatima from India and I hope she picks the bat just like you because lefties are special.”

During the post-match presentation, after a 107-run defeat against India, Pakistan skipper Bismah lauded the Indian players for their amazing performance. She also said that the Pakistan team need to make improvements in all three departments ahead of the next World Cup game.

“I think we bowled well, we were in the game but bowled loose balls. Pooja and Sneh Rana played very well, credit to them. We gave away easy runs to them, we were sloppy on the field, we didn’t put them under pressure.

“We leaked runs in the middle, don’t think I’d change anything in hindsight with regards to us wanting to bowl. Our batting has to improve, our shot selection wasn’t good, we’ll work on it ahead of the next game,” she elaborated.
