Former Indian skipper and current BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has been admitted to the Woodlands Hospital in Kolkata after he was tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday night.

Ganguly had mild symptoms of COVID-19 and is being kept under close watch at the hospital. The blood samples of Ganguly will be sent for genome sequencing to check whether he has the Omicron variant present.

Ganguly received “Monoclonal Antibody Cocktail” therapy on Monday night itself and is currently “haemodynamically stable” according to the Woodlands Hospital.

“Sourav is stable. He underwent angioplasty earlier this year. So as a precautionary measure he has been admitted to Woodlands,” said Sourav’s brother Snehasish Ganguly.

This is the third time Ganguly has been admitted to the hospital this year after complaining of chest pain twice in January. He had to undergo two rounds of angioplasty where two stents were put in his arteries. Ganguly took a rest for two months and then got himself fully vaccinated for COVID-19.

Virat Kohli Dismisses Sourav Ganguly’s Statement That He Had Requested Virat To Not Step Down As The T20 Captain

Sourav Ganguly had an alleged fallout with Indian skipper Virat Kohli after the latter’s sacking as the ODI captain. Virat Kohli stepped down from the T20I captaincy after the T20 World Cup with a view of workload management and concentrating as a batsman alone in the shortest format.

However, it was realised that the chairman of selectors and the board decided to name Rohit Sharma as both the T20I and ODI captain. Sourav Ganguly came out in the media and said that this decision was taken by the board and the selectors as it didn’t make sense to have two white-ball captains. He also claimed that he had requested Kohli to not step down from the T20I captaincy, something which Kohli denied happening later in an explosive press conference.

Ganguly has since said that the board will resolve this matter internally. With Ganguly recovering from COVID-19, it might take a bit of time to resolve the issues between Virat Kohli and the board.
