With fewer than six months till the main event, former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori feels left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh should walk into India’s T20 World Cup squad.

Singh had a fantastic IPL 2022 season, taking 10 wickets at an astounding 7.70 economy rate. According to Vettori, he was particularly good at the end, which is why he should make the cut.

Arshdeep Singh Was The Best Amongst All The Left Arm Pacers In IPL 2022: Daniel Vettori

The IPL 2022 season featured some outstanding left-arm pacers, including Arshdeep Singh, Mohsin Khan, Khaleel Ahmed, and T Natarajan. In an interview with ESPNCricinfo, Vettori highlighted why the Punjab pacer stood out from the crowd. He stated, “I think Arshdeep is all about that backend and the fact that he has executed for a number of seasons in the IPL.

“Just for that speciality role that if we need to bring in someone at the death because death bowling is crucial in Australia as the wickets are good. You need to execute well to be successful and he has executed better than anyone.”

In the meantime, former India head coach Ravi Shastri remembered T Natarajan’s performance on the team’s most recent tour to Australia. In three games, the left-armer got six wickets and was outstanding at the death. The 60-year-old believes he played a key role in India’s T20I series victory.

“On our last tour of Australia, we beat them in the T20Is, it was Natarajan who did the job for you because he got the yorkers right and saved at least 15 runs at the backend of the game. So that could be crucial. Daniel said Arshdeep, add Khaleel and Natarajan there. I don’t see any other left-armer going,” said Shastri on the same platform.

It would be interesting to see who joins the final squad.
