India and Chennai Super Kings bowler Deepak Chahar has established himself as one of the genuine exponents of swing courtesy brilliant performance for Rajasthan, CSK, and the Indian Cricket Team in white-ball cricket.

With Bhuvneshwar Kumar blowing hot and cold, Deepak Chahar is an ideal successor to the veteran seamer but let’s not pigeonhole the Rajasthan lad as a white-ball specialist.

With 126 wickets in 45 First-Class games, Chahwr has established as the spearhead of the Rajasthan state team thanks to consistent match-winning performances over the years.

Chahar, who was wasn’t even considered among the top 50 bowlers in the state by the then director of Rajasthan Cricket Academy and former Indian coach, Greg Chappell, back in 2008 has come a long way back since then.

During the same year, Deepak Chahar displayed his prodigious talent to the hilt as he claimed an eight-wicket haul to knock over Hyderabad for a record low total of 21.

Chahar has made a mark for himself in whatever opportunities he has got for Team India in white-ball cricket.

The world-record holder for the best figures notched up by a bowler in T20I cricket (6/7 vs Bangladesh) was one of the contenders for the Test series in Australia but eventually, the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, T Natarajan were picked ahead of him.

However, Chahar is not really bothered about things that aren’t in his control. The right-hander, however, is fascinated by the prospect of bowling in countries like England and New Zealand where conditions aid swing and seam bowling.

“I don’t worry about the things that aren’t in my control. I wasn’t there in the red-ball team so I can’t really speak about my chances of playing in that series. I always feel that bowling with the Dukes’ ball will be really fun with conditions in England, New Zealand, etc. aiding the swing bowlers. So naturally, I do aspire to play Test cricket for India,” said Deepak Chahar during an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda.
