Former Indian paceman Venkatesh Prasad has made a shocking revelation about Greg Chappell relating to Deepak Chahar. Deepak Chahar has grabbed the spotlight after playing a blinder of a knock in the second ODI against Sri Lanka to lead India to a series win. Venkatesh Prasad has disclosed that Greg Chappell rejected Chahar due to his height, asking him to choose another profession.

Greg Chappell was one of the most controversial coaches of the Indian team. While he encouraged the infusion of youngsters in the side, the former Australian skipper had too many conflicts with the senior players like Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar. Suresh Raina recently heaped praises on Chappell for wanting to make India one of the best fielding outfits.

As for India, they snatched victory from the jaws of defeat as they made a match after being six down, chasing 276 in 50 overs. Sri Lanka delivered a much better batting performance in the second ODI even though they failed to capitalize on the 77-run opening stand. But Deepak Chahar stole the match from their pockets by finishing unbeaten at 69 when India were struggling at 193-7. He also took to wickets earlier.

Venkatesh Prasad took to his official Twitter handle and revealed about Greg Chappell’s rejection of Deepak Chahar, who won the match single-handedly for India. Hence, the 51-year old has advised the youngsters not to pay much heed to overseas coaches’ words and wants the franchises to opt for local mentors as far as possible.
