The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has prioritized the upcoming domestic season in their agenda for the upcoming apex council meeting to be held on July 21.
The board members will be meeting in Mumbai to talk about conducting the season normally this time around. The previous Ranji season was played in two parts – the group stage before the IPL 2022 season and the knockouts after the conclusion of the IPL 2022 season.
“Update on the domestic season 2022-23: (a) “Procurement of new equipment; (b) format and timelines,” reads item No 7 in the 12-point agenda for the meeting.
The reason for the same was because of the pandemic which forced the Ranji to be postponed. There wasn’t enough time to complete the knockouts and it had to be held after BCCI’s premier T20 league concluded.
Sponsorship deals on BCCI’s agenda too
Additionally, another talking point is the sponsorship of Byju’s (Think & Learn Private Limited) and Paytm (ONE97 Communication Limited). They have renewed their contracts with the BCCI but the complete details haven’t been revealed as of yet.
While Paytm is the title sponsor for both international and domestic matches, Byju’s are the jersey sponsors. “We are continuing our association with the BCCI, we have extended our sponsorship deal,” Byju Raveendran, the CEO of the company, told Cricbuzz on Monday night.
“Production-related services for the IPL and the BCCI domestic matches, ratifications for the expenses incurred towards contribution to other sports (Olympics)/contribution during the pandemic,” are additional things on the agenda.
