Cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra termed the Jaspit Bumrah led Indian bowling attack as the best ever bowling line-up the country has seen.

Indian bowlers achieved an unexpected result in the second Test against England at Lord’s, where Bumrah along with Mohammed Shami dismissed the England openers with the new ball. Senior pacer Ishant Sharma chipped in with a couple of wickets with Mohammed Siraj cleaned the lower-middle order batsmen as India bowled out England for 120 and won the match by 151 runs.

Aakash Chopra says the current Indian bowling line-up is the best

The task looked daunting before the innings given the domination of England skipper Joe Root against India in the first innings but Bumrah & co left no stone unturned to make it real. Chopra said there is no doubt that it is the best Indian bowling line-up which is comprised of four lethal pacers.

“I don’t think India has had a better bowling line-up than this in their cricket history. Yes, this is the best ever,” Chopra said on his Youtube channel.

“This is India’s best Test bowling line-up ever. There is no doubt about that. It is because when Bhajji and Kumble were together, two great spinners, we did not have four or five fast bowlers,” he added.

The previous era had only two pace bowlers in the bowling attack: Aakash Chopra

Chopra compared the current Indian bowlers to their predecessors under the era of Sourav Ganguly and MS Dhoni where Zaheer Khan used to lead the attack along with just one seamer and talking on Ravichandra Ashwin, who missed both the Tests, Chopra feels he is matching the caliber of Harbhajan Singh.

“Along with Zaheer Khan, there was Ajit Agarkar sometimes, and Ashish Nehra or RP Singh on other occasions. But four or five of this level together – that along with Bumrah you get Shami, Ishant, Siraj, Shardul and there are still fast bowlers sitting out. This is insane, the depth we are seeing,” Chopra said.

“The two spinners we are talking about, Ravichandran Ashwin is standing shoulder to shoulder with Harbhajan Singh, Jaddu is far behind Anil Kumble but the fast bowlers are making up for the lack of wickets or experience,” he added.
