Indian skipper Virat Kohli who was spot on with his tactics in the Lord’s test revealed that the heated-up movements between Bumrah and Wood in the second innings had helped them significantly. India pulled off a stunning win from the verges of a defeat at the Lord’s in the 2nd Test by 151 runs and has taken a 1-0 lead in the series.

Mohammad Siraj was one of the stars of the Indian bowling lineup picking up 8 wickets in the Test while KL Rahul’s century in the first innings earned the Karnataka lad the man of the match award. It couldn’t have got any better for the Indian team with all the players in the team contributing to the win.

Virat Kohli Delighted By The Team Effort

Virat Kohli mentioned in the post-match presentation that he was proud of the effort from the whole team and was satisfied that they stuck to the plans despite losing an important toss. He added that the first day was the most challenging part of the Test where India played magnificently with a century from KL Rahul.

“Super proud of the whole team. The way we stuck to our plans after being put in. The pitch didn’t offer much in the first three days. First day was the most challenging,” Kohli said at the post-match presentation.

Virat Kohli Credits The Tailenders For Their Stunning Partnership

Virat Kohli mentioned that the pressure crept at the fall of his dismissal when India was reeling at 55 for the loss of 3 wickets and to win it from there was something special. He stated the battle between Bumrah and Mark Wood certainly helped them fire a bit while Bumrah and Shami shared a partnership of 89 to take the game out of England’s hands.

“The way we played in the second innings after being put under pressure – Jasprit and Shami were outstanding. We had the belief we can get them out in 60 overs. The tension in the field in our second innings, what happened there, helped us,”

“Putting their hand up was something we were really proud of and we wanted to let them know (standing ovation for Bumrah-Shami). Batting coach has worked really hard with the boys,” he added.
