New Zealand fast bowler Kyle Jamieson will not be taking the field on the fourth day of the Trent Bridge Test against England after complaining of a back problem on Day 3.

Jamieson, in his 17th over of England’s first innings, stopped midway and walked off the field with Trent Boult completing the rest of the over.

He was treated by the Kiwi medical staff but an MRI scan will be needed to confirm the nature and extent of the problem. Currently, it has been revealed that the issue is localized in the lower-left backside.

Jamieson experienced sharp pain while bowling in the final session of day three forcing him from the field,” the statement read.

England end Day 3 on 473/5, trailing by 80 runs in the first innings

Jamieson’s unavailability burdens the other pacers who have already toiled for over 110 overs in the first innings. The surface at Trent Bridge doesn’t have as much for the seamers and the batters are calling all the shots.

New Zealand has themselves to blame, however, as they managed to put down simple straightforward chances of Ollie Pope, who went on to register his second Test century after the reprieves.

England finished Day 3 on 473/5, with Joe Root unbeaten on 163 off just 200 balls in the company of wicket-keeper batter, Ben Foakes. Boult has been the pick of the bowlers so far with figures of 3/89 so far.
