South Africa Test skipper Dean Elgar is prepared to challenge England’s way too much hyped Bazball. South Africa boasted of its pace attack will take the onus to stop England’s juggernaut in the upcoming Test series this week.

There has been a lot of talk about the attacking mindset in Test cricket since Brendon McCullum took over the charge of England’s Test side this summer. England have won all four Test matches – three against New Zealand followed by the epic game against India in Birmingham last month – chasing targets of over 270 in each game.

In a very brief period, McCullum’s theory is profoundly known as ‘Bazball’, which allows the batters to take the attack on the opposition from the beginning, becoming a concern for the bowlers at the same time.

The team that will next face the ultimate challenge of Bazball is South Africa, which is currently leading the WTC 2021-23 points table with five wins and two losses.

I’ve got absolutely no interest in the style that they’ve played: Dean Elgar on Bazball

Elgar wasn’t bothered with all the attention England’s new mantra to revitalise Test cricket has earned the spotlight in the last few months.

I’ve got absolutely no interest in the style that they’ve played. I think it can go one of two ways for them and it can go south very quickly… I’d like to see them do it against our seamers,” Elgar told The Guardian.

Will Kagiso Rabada play the first Test for Proteas?

South Africa bowling spearhead Kagiso Rabada suffered an ankle injury and missed a couple of T20I matches against Ireland. Proteas head coach Mark Boucher expects the 27-year-old to fit into the team at the last minute.

I’m hoping that he pulls through. Rabada is a massive player for us as we all know so for him to be part of the final XI would be very special for us,” Boucher said.

The first Test between England and South Africa will kick off on Wednesday (August 17) at the iconic Lord’s.
