Reeza Hendricks, a top-order batsman for South Africa in good form, is appreciative of the possibilities he has right now and is eager to go back to work when the hosts play England in the crucial third T20I at Southampton’s Ageas Bowl later on Sunday.

The three-match series between the two teams is tied at 1-1 after the home team won the first game by 41 runs in Bristol and the visitors replied with a 58-run victory in Cardiff, mostly due to Hendricks’ fifty and Rilee Rossouw’s unbroken 96.

Right-hander Hendricks made significant contributions in both games for a Proteas team missing injured skipper Temba Bavuma at the top of the order, blasting 57 off 33 balls and 53 off 32 balls, respectively.

Reeza Hendricks Happy With His Performance Amid Healthy Competition

There is fierce rivalry for positions ahead of the World Cup later this year since a number of hitters are currently in strong form. Hendricks thinks that his only option is to keep taking chances.

“It’s obviously nice to contribute,” he said on Cricket South Africa (CSA). “There’s a lot of competition within the team at present, which is also a good thing as well. So I’m happy I got the opportunity and managed to put in two good performances.

“Where that leaves me, I’m not sure, but whatever opportunity I get I’ll try to do the best as I can. Then whatever happens from there, selection-wise and where it puts me, it’s up to the team, the coaches and the selectors as to where they see me fit.”

Schedule Is Hectic And Heavy On The Body: Reeza Hendricks

On July 27th and 28th, the first two games of the series were played back-to-back (July 28). They were closely followed by a three-game One-Day International (ODI) series that was played over the course of six days.

“The schedule is quite hectic and it’s quite heavy on the body,” Hendricks stated. “But personally if you get into a good run, you can obviously continue with that momentum.

“As a team as well if we get into a good run we can continue with that. In saying that, it’s one apiece at the moment, so it’s all to play for tomorrow. It’s a quick turnaround. We’re preparing today and hopefully, tomorrow will be a good one for us. “

Reeza Hendricks Hopes To Continue His Good Run Of Form

Hendricks, 32, is now attempting to take advantage of his recent success and aid South Africa in a strong series finale in Hampshire.

“It was disappointing (the performance) after the first game and the talk was about bouncing back from that, which we managed to do,” he added. “So this is a big game now but we’re quite confident.

“We back ourselves to go out there and put in another good performance. In saying that, we obviously know that England will come out guns blazing as well, so it’s all set up to be a good game.

“To get a series win in England would be a great achievement, so we’re obviously striving for that and hopefully it is a good game. I’d love to think and hope we come out on top.”

Since David Miller, the replacement captain, will be playing in his 100th T20I game, the game will be extremely noteworthy for him.
