Former Pakistani cricketer Ramiz Raja slammed England openers Rory Burns and Dom Sibley’s poor performance in India vs England 2nd Test match at Lord’s. Raja said that both the England openers are of no use and extremely ordinary. While chasing a target of 272, England openers Rory Burns and Dom Sibley lost their wickets for a duck, giving a big blow to England batting at the start.

Later, all the English batsmen failed to perform against a strong bowling attack against India. 8 English batsmen lost their wickets for a single-digit score and were bowled out for just 120 runs in the end. As a result, India won the match by 151 runs. Rory Burns and Dom Sibley have totally failed to perform well in the series so far, scoring 67 and 57 runs respectively in the 4 innings of the 2 Tests.

England Openers Are Of No Use, Says Ramiz Raja

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Raja described England’s top order as very ordinary.

“England’s top order is extremely ordinary. Their openers, Rory Burns and Dom Sibley are of no use. Haseeb Hameed, who was making a comeback, also looked nervous. Against a strong India bowling line-up, if you are not mentally and technically sound, you will be exposed,” Ramiz Raja said.

“Even if this Test was drawn with the hosts 7-8 wickets down, it would have been a moral victory for India. But following this defeat, it will be very difficult for England to stand up in the remaining Test matches.

“They should have drawn this game, but India forced them into a corner with their aggression and made life difficult for them. England did not play their natural game because of India’s exemplary bowling, and the innings became stagnant,” Ramiz Raja further said.

India pacer Mohammed Siraj picked 4 wickets in both the innings of the match to come up with a brilliant bowling show. Jasprit Bumrah also picked 3 wickets in the 2nd innings. With Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma picked the rest of three England wickets, India limited the home team from any chance of victory.
