England have won the toss in the 2nd Test against India and elected to bowl first at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. The second Test between England and India will be played from August 12 to August 16 at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. The first Test between the two sides ended in a draw as rain washed out the final day of what could have been one of the blockbuster finishes to a Test match.

Both the teams are coming into this game with injury concerns. However, England‘s injury woes seem to be overshadowing their counterparts from the subcontinent. English pacer Stuart Broad has been ruled out of the entire Test series with a calf injury. His Brother-in-Arm, James Anderson is also doubtful for the 2nd Test due to a tight quad.

England vs India 2021, 2nd Test- Toss Report

England have won the toss in the 2nd Test against India and elected to bowl first at the Lord’s Cricket Ground. As far as the India National Cricket Team is concerned, their fast-bowling all-rounder, Shardul Thakur, has been ruled out of the second Test with a hamstring injury.

However, skipper Virat Kohli was assured in the pre-match press conference that team India might field an additional pacer in place of Thakur.

Virat’s indication clearly meant that Ravichandran Ashwin’s place in the first eleven is still not guaranteed. Virat also cleared away rumors of Mayank Agarwal’s comeback in the Indian first eleven.

This match will also be an ultimate Test for Cheteshwar Pujara, who has been under a lot of fire ever since the Englishmen toured India earlier this year.

India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli(c), Ajinkya Rahane, Rishabh Pant(w), Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj

England (Playing XI): Rory Burns, Dominic Sibley, Haseeb Hameed, Joe Root(c), Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler(w), Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Ollie Robinson, Mark Wood, James Anderson

Team India Go As Heavyweights In The Lord’s Test

Going into the second Test, the visitors will go in this game as the heavyweights because of the supremacy they hold in terms of the squad balance of both sides. A first glimpse of the Lord’s wicket clearly indicated that there will be a lot of grass on the wicket and thus, Anderson’s and Broad’s exclusion will come as a heavy blow.

The subcontinent pacers, on the other hand, had a spectacular run in the first Test. Jasprit Bumrah returned to his brilliant best in the last Test match as he went on to pick 9 wickets in the game with a five-wicket haul in the second innings of the first Test match.
