In was the second day of the first Test at Edgbaston owing to the pivotal five-match series when Indian skipper Virat Kohli started it with a masterclass approach. Batting giant, Kohli oozed out class, tenacity, dedication and perfect confidence to rise to the occasion.
The 29-year-old Kohli somehow got succeeded to bury the humiliation that he faced in England on India’s tour of 2014.

The never-say-die batsman exorcises the ghost of his last trip as he laid a new foundation. The skipper had scored 134 in his previous ten innings on English soil in Test cricket. He managed to forget the tour that haunted him for four years with a new ray of hope.
Kohli gives a sizzling performance that is full of dedication and temperament to put his team ahead of England. Although, he survived following two drop catches after that he showed a fearless approach.

He honoured the fierce spell of Ben Stokes followed by James Anderson and waited for his turn to come.
Cricketer-turned-commentator Nasser Hussain, who was on the air, said: “There goes the chance. Now. see how much it costs.”
The slippery hands of Dawid Malan:
Earlier in the innings, it was Dawid Malan who missed an easy take. The Indian skipper was batting on 21 at that time. He played watchful innings till he crossed the fifty-run mark. It was just a matter of one run after the milestone when Malan dropped yet another catch.

The Indian captain ended up his phenomenal performance with 149 runs that included twenty-two fours and a big six as well.

Virat Kohli while talking with BCCI.tv after his performance praised the handy knock of Hardik Pandya. He also gave due credit to Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav with whom skipper collectively garnered 94 runs.
