New Zealand
The Kiwis have some good news and some bad news heading into the Test match. While Trent Boult is set to return their skipper Kane Williamson is struggling with an elbow injury. It is a big concern knowing that the WTC final is just a week away. He looks set to miss the Test match while surgery, for now, has been postponed.
Williamson’s injury might force the management to look at a possible rotation policy. With the WTC final around the corner, the management might not risk Williamson. If Williamson misses out on the Test, Tom Latham will lead the side in his absence, and doors will open for another batsman in the team – Will Young and Rachin Ravindra being the options. The comeback of Boult means Colin De Grandohhome might have to sit out in his place.

England’s Ollie Robinson has been suspended from all international cricket by the ICC following his old tweets that surfaced having sexist remarks. The ICC has set Robinson’s ban as an example to show how strict the board is on disciplinary grounds and that these kinds of serious offenses will not be ignored.
Dom Bess has been added to the side ahead of the second Test and might be used in Edgbaston. The rotation policy might be in play in the England squad as other players are also waiting on the sidelines. Both sides have all to play for with the series on the line.
Full squad
