In the final of Lanka Premier League 2021, Galle Gladiators will lock horns with Jaffna Kings. The match will take place on December 23 at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota.

Jaffna Kings finished on the top spot in the points table of Lanka Premier League 2021 after the league stage. They won 6 matches and lost 2 out of 8 and finished with 12 points. On the other hand, Galle Gladiators finished on the 2nd spot in the points table. They played 8 games, winning 4 and losing 3 and earning 9 points.

In the playoffs of Lanka Premier League 2021, Galle Gladiators defeated Jaffna Kings by 64 runs to reach the final. Batting first, Gladiators slammed 188-5 on the scoreboard. Kusal Mendis slammed 85 runs while Danushka Gunathilaka scored 55.

Later, Jaffna Kings were bowled out for just 124 and lost the match by 64 runs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz tried his best efforts and scored 59 runs. However, he was the only batsman to score a good knock. For Galle Gladiators, Nuwan Thushara took a spectacular 5-wicket haul.

Later, Jaffna Kings outplayed Dambulla Giants in the Qualifier 2 clash of Lanka Premier League 2021. Batting first, Avishka Fernando slammed a century for Jaffna Kings. With another notable contribution from Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s 70, Jaffna Kings reached 210-4 on the scoreboard.

For Dambulla Giants, their top order could not score much runs. Later, Chamika Karunaratne played a quickfire of unbeaten 75 off 47 balls. However, he fell short of balls in the end and Dambulla Giants could only reach 187-9. Winning the match by 23 runs, Jaffna Kings made it to the final of Lanka Premier League 2021.
