Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh was distraught following the sudden demise of former Australian all-rounder, Andrew Symonds, in a car crash on Saturday night.
Symonds, part of two World Cup-winning squads, passed away at the age of 46. As per reports from Queensland Police, Symonds was involved in a single-person crash after his car rolled off the side of the road.
There were considerable efforts to revive the former cricketer but he succumbed to the injuries sustained. Former cricketers condoled the tragic death of Symonds, whose death comes on the back of Shane Warne’s demise just over 45 days ago.
“Shocked to hear about the sudden demise of Andrew Symonds. Gone too soon. Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends. Prayers for the departed soul,” Harbhajan wrote on Twitter.

Harbhajan and Symonds were involved in the infamous ‘Monkeygate’ scandal during India’s tour of Australia. Words were exchanged on the field and the matter was also taken to the court before being settled. The two have also played for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL where they solved their differences.
“When Mumbai picked him, the first thought that came to my mind was, ‘Why did they pick him? How will we (me and Symonds) get along together? When he entered the MI dressing room, Andrew was a different man altogether. I thought he would be an angry person, and I feel he would have thought the same about me.”
“I remembered an incident when we were in Chandigarh. After playing a match that we won, we went to my friend’s place. There, we hugged for the first time and apologised to each other. We felt that the issue could have been sorted out in a more amicable manner. Both of us felt sorry,” Harbhajan had revealed.
