Former India cricketer Parthiv Patel’s insight into Sourav Ganguly’s captaincy and man-management abilities is unique.

Cricketers from the past frequently praised Sourav Ganguly’s man-management skills and talked highly of his captaincy.

Ganguly captained India in 146 One-Day Internationals between 1999 and 2005, which is still the second-highest total of any Men in Blue captain (after Mohammed Azharuddin). India currently ranks third among India’s captains with 76 victories from those games.

But in addition to these stats, Ganguly had the best man-management abilities and was skilled at soothing everyone, as stated by former India batsman Parthiv Patel.

“He used to make everyone feel happy, even if our day or the game were not going well. He used to always take Marigold biscuits with him and give them to everyone,” said Patel in an audio chatroom session of ‘CricChat Powered by Parimatch’ on the Sharechat app.

Along with Ganguly and his leadership, Parthiv Patel spoke about the upcoming T20 World Cup and how Rohit Sharma, the skipper, and Rahul Dravid, the head coach, have a lot of work to do to put together the ideal team for the competition, which will take place in Australia later in October.

“The outcome for India will depend on the choice of team. It is Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid’s major job to select the ideal lineup for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, “Parthiv Patel stated.

“Given that the team appears to be good, Australia could challenge India. Even though England and South Africa have strengthened since the last World Cup, Australia appears to be a much stronger competitor.”

India has not won an ICC competition since taking home the Champions Trophy in 2013. Additionally, MS Dhoni led India to its lone T20 World Cup victory in the 2007 inaugural competition.
