ICC Test Rankings: Ravichandran Ashwin Highest Ranked Indian Bowler, Jasprit Bumrah Becomes No. 9

India bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Ravichandran Ashwin have made good gains in the latest ICC Test Rankings after starring in India’s stunning win over Australia in the second Test of the ongoing four-match Test series. With the likes of Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami not a part of the match as well as the series, the right-arm pacer led the attack with aplomb, helping India win the Test by eight wickets in draw level in the series,

Jasprit Bumrah picked up 4 wickets in the first innings, helping India bowl out the hosts for just 195. In the second innings, he went on to pick two more wickets. Thanks to the 6-wicket haul in the game, Jasprit Bumrah has climbed to the ninth spot. Before the start of the Test, he was at the tenth spot in the ICC Test Rankings.

Ravichandran Ashwin, on the other hand, has jumped two spots to take the seventh spot. Ashwin is the highest ranked Indian bowler in Tests. The off-spinner played a crucial role in the win. He dismissed Steve Smith for a duck in the first innings to put India on the front foot. The star spinner then accounted two more wickets in the first innings before taking two more in the second innings.

For Australia, Mitchell Starc has entered the top five. The left-arm pacer has jumped two spots to take the No.5 spot after picking up four wickets in the match. His compatriot Josh Hazlewood, however, has dropped in the latest rankings. The right-arm pacer has dropped three spots and is currently at No.8 after managing just one wicket in the match.

Australia’s Pat Cummins continues to be the highest ranked Test bowler in the world. He is followed by Stuart Broad and Neil Wagner. Tim Southee and Starc complete the top five.
