Deepti Sharma and Richa Ghosh received appreciation from India captain Harmanpreet Kaur for their outstanding performances against West Indies in the Women’s T20 World Cup match on Wednesday. Richa Ghosh excelled with the bat and struck an unbeaten 44 runs to secure the Women in Blue’s 6-wicket triumph. Deepti spun his web around Windies’ batsmen and captured three wickets to limit them to 118/6.

India had already defeated Pakistan in their initial encounter, and as a result, they are currently second in Group B’s points standings, trailing only England, who have a higher Net Run Rate.

After 12 overs, the Windies were heading towards 150, so Harmanpreet Kaur was pleased with her bowlers’ ability to hold them to a below-average score.

“It was a great day for us. Whatever we were expecting, we were able to do especially our bowling,” Harmanpreet said in the post-match presentation.

Harmanpreet Kaur said that Deepti worked diligently with the bowling coach after the last match, and it paid off for her on Wednesday.

“We discussed about Deepti’s bowling in the team meeting and she was not happy with the last game, the bowling coach helped her and today she got the results,” she added.

Richa was praised by Harmanpreet Kaur for her ability to make clutch shots and win the game for the team.

“She (Richa) has been great for us. She’s someone who can pull the game for us and we are really happy that she is in that touch,” she said.

During her unbroken 44-run innings, Ghosh hammered five fours and added a boundary to secure the victory.

“We are happy with the two results and want to continue this rhythm in the next game,” Harmanpreet Kaur said.

The West Indies squad was captained by Shemaine Campbell after Hayley Matthew suffered a fielding-related injury. Shemaine Campbell stated that the top-order batters must stand up and assume accountability.

“We didn’t get enough runs as much as we were hoping. We should have got 150 and that would have been a fighting total. The top three batters have to bat till the end and if they do that then we will get the runs. Ramharack has been bowling pretty good for some time, it was a good spell and we want her to continue doing that. I am not sure what is wrong with her (Matthews) but we will know shortly,” she added.
