While the Men in Blue are gearing up for their biggest challenge so far this year as they take on Australia in the four-match Test series starting this Thursday, their counterparts are preparing for their biggest exploit.

The side will kickstart their campaign on the 12th of February as Harmanpreet Kaur’s India locks horns against old-rivals Pakistan in their first fixture of the group stages. The team have done well coming into the premier event and will be looking to build on the momentum in the early rounds.

Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur seems excited about the tournament and believes her side has what it takes to lift the title this time around. Harmanpreet also lauded star batter Shafali Verma who is coming into the side with huge momentum after lifting the U19 Women’s T20 World Cup title.

“She has been a key player for us. Whenever she performs, we are always in a better position. I just want her to keep enjoying (her batting) and keep backing herself. Because whenever she is doing these things, she is in better shape. She should keep enjoying (herself), and keep doing the right work. Her teammates are always there for support. She will be a key player for us and I always like to back her.”

It will be interesting to see if the Blues can get some of those early wins in the group stages to book a berth in the semi-finals. Seeded with the likes of England, Pakistan, Ireland, and West Indies in the group, it seems like Harmanpreet Kaur and her side have somewhat of an easy draw and could emerge as one of the top two teams in the group standings.
