Pakistan banked on an outstanding century from Babar Azam to keep their hopes of making it to the semifinal alive beating New Zealand by six wickets at Edgbaston in the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019. Soon after the game, veteran all-rounder Shoaib Malik’s wife and Tennis star Sania Mirza took a dig at the critics who slammed the whole team along with her after Pakistan’s humiliating loss to India.

The Men in Greens produced a complete effort at Edgbaston to outplay undefeated New Zealand. Mohammad Amir and Shaheen Afridi ran havoc after Kane Williamson won the toss and opted to bat first. Striving at 46 for four, two partnerships with James Neesham steering the innings helped them post a challenging total on the board. Neesham remained unbeaten on 97 runs while Colin de Grandhommed contributed with 64 runs as the Kiwis posted 237 runs on the board.
The target looked daunting with the wicket assisting the bowlers and New Zealand quicks removing both the Pakistan openers in quick time. But Babar Azam converted his start to a brilliant century with great support from Mohammad Hafeez and Haris Sohail helped them overhaul the target with five balls to spare. With their third victory, Pakistan earned themselves some more time in the ICC World Cup 2019.
It was a thorough effort from Sarfaraz Ahmed & Co who bounced back in style after a humiliating loss against India. The players were at the heart of the criticisms who slammed the intensity of the cricketers, Veteran cricketer Shoaib Malik was at the target end alongside his wife, Sania Mirza. The fans who criticised the players after a dismal outing against the arch-rivals were seen praising the Pakistan team soon after they defeated New Zealand.
Sania Mirza, who was at the heart of the criticism despite not being a part of the team, gave it back to the critics in style after the recent victory. The greatest ever women tennis player, Sania said that can be a great leveller indicating at those fans who flipped in a few days.
