ICC World Cup 2019: Virat Kohli Extends His Support To Gentleman AB de Villiers
Former South Africa skipper AB de Villiers has finally broken his silence since the storm that begun during the ICC World Cup 2019. The legendary cricketer has admitted that he didn’t o return to the World Cup squad in the 11th hour of the squad announcement. As de Villiers has vented his heart out in a statement revealing his side of the story, his friend and teammate Virat Kohli has extended his support saying that he stands by his side.

Ab de Villiers shocked the cricketing world when he announced his retirement in May 2018, exactly one year before the World Cup. But speculations galore, when reports emerged that the former Proteas cricketer has expressed his desire to play the World Cup one day before the squad announcement. But the swashbuckling batsman, in a heartfelt message, has denied all the reports saying that he didn’t demand a World Cup spot. De Villiers also said that he didn’t speak earlier because he didn’t want to distract the South African team during the World Cup campaign.
“I made absolutely no demands at all. I certainly did not try to force my way into the World Cup squad on the eve of the tournament and did not expect to be included. There was no burning issue from my side, and no sense of injustice,” Ab de Villiers said in a statement.

Soon after the post on Twitter, India skipper Virat Kohli extended his support to Ab de Villiers. Kohli who has shared the dressing room with for the former Proteas cricketer in the Royal Challengers Bangalore over the years saying that he is one of the honest men in the circuit. Kohli and de Villiers share a great rapport on and off the field and have always stood behind each other during the hard times.
“My brother you are the most honest and committed man I know. It’s been unfortunate to see this happen to you. But know that we stand with you and believe in you. Seeing people enter your personal space has been sad to see and uncalled for. More love and power to you and your beautiful family. Me and anushka are Always here for you guys,” Kohli wrote.
