He also spoke about a few other players and analyzed India’s squad for the World Cup based on a few other parameters. Gilchrist further said that KL Rahul coming back to form is a good sign for the Indian team while Ishan Kishan showed what he can do in the middle-order.
“When KL Rahul was out due to his injury, Ishan Kishan took the opportunity and played really well. That’s a wonderful case of just taking an opportunity to be positive. Along with that, there’s Rishabh Pant who’s clearly not going to be ready for the World Cup and we hope his recovery continues,” Gilchrist said further.
The three-match ODI series between India and Australia will be played between September 22-27 in Mohali, Indore and Rajkot respectively. The ODI series will serve as the perfect dress rehearsal for the two teams ahead of the big World Cup. India and Australia face each other in Chennai on October 8 to kick off their World Cup campaign.
