Star pacer Shaheen Afridi believes that Pakistan could’ve won the 2022 T20 World Cup final against England if he hadn’t been injured at the crucial stage of the match. Shaheen Afridi said that he doesn’t think about it too much as injuries are part and parcel of the game.

The left-arm pacer injured his knee in the 13th over of the England innings while taking Harry Brook’s catch in the final match. The speedster left the field for some time before coming to bowl his third over. Afridi walked off the field again after bowling the only one ball in the over.

Every Player’s Dream To Win A World Cup – Shaheen Afridi

Speaking to ESPN Cricinfo, Shaheen Afridi said that the outcome of the match could be different if he bowled his full over quota. Afridi recalled the T20 World Cup 2021 loss against Australia in the semifinals.

“Obviously, it’s every player’s dream to win a World Cup for his country and I still remember 2021, how that ended,” Shaheen Afridi said.

“And in this tournament, if I didn’t get injured at such a crucial moment, maybe we could’ve won. Maybe if I had stayed fit and bowled. Injuries can happen at any time. If I think too much about them then I won’t be able to move ahead,” he added.

Shaheen Afridi conceded three sixes against Matthew Wade in the second last over of the match, which affected the result of the match. The Australian team chased down the target of 177 runs in 19 overs with five wickets in hand.

Since The PSL, I’ve Been Feeling Better – Shaheen Afridi
