Haroon Rashid, Pakistan’s newly appointed chief selector, has stated that the door is still open for retiring fast bowler Mohammad Amir to make an international comeback.

Amir, a left-arm bowler, announced his surprise retirement from international cricket in December 2020, citing mental agony.

Rashid said that if the fast bowler comes out of retirement and produces, there is no reason why he wouldn’t be considered for selection in an interview with Cricket Pakistan.

“I believe that players should make judgments after giving them significant thought. Even one of your statements might spark debate. Players should concentrate on their cricket, in my opinion”

“There are many players, and each one believes that they should be chosen for the starting XI, but it all relies on which players are best in which situations,” Haroon Rashid said.

“In Amir’s instance, I’m not sure what his situation is. I’ve heard he’s considering resuming his retirement. It’s great that he’s playing. If he continues to perform well, he will be considered for selection among other players,” Haroon Rashid Added.
