Shreyas Iyer continues to be absent from the Indian team that is playing its last Super 4 game against Bangladesh. India made as many as five changes with Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Siraj and Kuldeep Yadav being rested.
In comes Suryakumar Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna, Shami, and Tilak Varma. Varma is making his debut for ODI debut for India. Before the play, he was given his cap by Rohit Sharma.
The absence of Iyer continues to be a major concern for the Indian team. He played the first game against Pakistan and then was dropped from the side after reports of a niggle. He does not seem to have recovered from his injury yet.
The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee named him in India’s Asia Cup and World Cup squad after he was deemed fit. However, after the first game against Pakistan, Iyer is sitting out of the team and nursing his injury. He was seen doing practice with the rest of the Indian teammates ahead of the Bangladesh game but was not named in the playing XI.
X Reacts To Shreyas Iyer’s Absence From Bangladesh Game
So much negativity on timeline regarding Shreyas Iyer.
Man, they didn’t want to rush him in especially in these humid conditions, why it is so hard to understand?

Tilak Verma is not even in WC squad then why this clownery by giving him game time ? Would’ve been understandable if Shreyas Iyer was playing today .
This whole BCCI system is running on favouritism .

Though I’m happy for Tilak Varma, I don’t understand the logic of playing someone who isn’t even in your World Cup squad unless Shreyas Iyer is seriously injured and will miss the World Cup. Are we preparing for this World Cup or the next one? You can play him once this is over,…

” We are gonna field first. It is something we haven’t done in the tournament, we haven’t done it under lights so it gives us an opportunity to bat under lights. The wicket honestly has got everything for everyone. Pacers who bend their back in the daytime have also got movement and there have been assistance for the spinners. Got to be brave and play your natural game. We got to give game time to some other guys who haven’t played. We have made five changes. Virat, Hardik, Siraj, Bumrah and Kuldeep are out. Tilak makes his debut. Shami and Prasidh also come in. Suryakumar also gets a game” said Rohit at the toss.
