India vs England 2021: I Think It Would Be a Bit Better Scenario For Team India - Zaheer Khan

Just one more day ahead in the first Test of the five-match series between India and England and Zaheer Khan expresses his views on Indian batsmen if they could chase down the total. England will have to pick up 9 wickets in the remaining overs in the Test while India needs 157 runs on the final day to win the ongoing Test.

It has been an excellent effort from both teams to have a chance to win the Test despite the rain gods showing less mercy. India has the upper hand marginally but England can still change the whole Test on its head with a good session. It has been an exciting battle between the two teams so far with Joe Root and Jasprit Bumrah being the star performers.

Zaheer Khan Suggests The Indian Batters To Bat Sensibly

Zaheer Khan reckoned that India has given away 25 runs extra to the total for England and felt that partnerships might help India with a win. He suggested the Indian batsmen add a lot more value to their wicket on the last day and bat more sensibly. He concluded that India has a better chance of winning the test at the moment.

” I still feel the target should have been 25 runs less than the eventual one(209). In this chase, partnerships are going to be very crucial. I feel India did get off to a good start.

“But on the last day, every batsman needs to put a price on their wickets and bat sensibly. If conditions are not overcast like it was during India’s first innings, then I think it would be a bit better scenario for Team India,” Zaheer Khan told.

Zaheer Khan Feels India Should Use The Heavy Roller Advantage

Zaheer Khan felt that India should go ahead with the option of using the heavy roller on the pitch on the fifth day morning so that the pitch is good for batting. He noted the importance of small partnerships that could end up winning the Test for India.

“The team also have the option of using the heavy roller on the pitch in the morning. That is not at all a bad option and could prove to be advantageous for India. They should concentrate on building partnerships. On the last day of a Test, a target of 200 odd could be breached only by focussing on building mini partnerships,” added Zaheer Khan.

India has lost the wicket of KL Rahul close to the end of day four’s play and he was India’s highest scorer in the first innings.
