Former England batsman Mark Butcher has told that India despite possessing a world-class bowling attack will miss the services of Ravindra Jadeja as he adds a different dimension. The all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja will be missing the first two Tests after fracturing his thumb in the Sydney Test in Australia and his absence could be a much-needed boost for England after showing some vulnerability against left-arm spin in Sri Lanka.

Ravindra Jadeja has been one of the most consistent performers for India in the last 2 years and he has been excellent with the bat in the ODI as well as T20 series. His inclusion in the second Test at Melbourne had an immediate impact and his half-century was vital in India winning the Test and levelling the series 1-1. His left-arm spin in India in the second innings at turning pitches will be devastating for the opponents and he will be missed for sure.

“Our batters had problems facing Embuldeniya. England will be buoyed by Jadeja’s absence. India possesses a world-class bowling attack but Jadeja adds a different dimension to it,” said Mark Butcher who played 71 Tests for England.

Butcher Expects Zak Crawley To Make Way For Rory Burns

Rory Burns wasn’t part of the England squad for the Test series against Sri Lanka as he took paternity leave. He also expects Rory Burns and Dom Sibley to open in the first test while Zak Crawley will have to wait for his turn again. He told that the usefulness of the left-right combination from England openers may come in handy and a good start might put the hosts under pressure.

“Burns and (Dom) Sibley should be opening in the first test. A left-right combination is handy and England will want to stick with them. If the two get off to a good start, the rest of the batsmen too will gain confidence,” Butcher said.
