Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir hasn’t received a warm welcome by the crowd during the Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka. The spectators in the stands teased him and that didn’t go well with him.

During one of the games of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, most likely the game between India and Pakistan on Saturday at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Gautam Gambhir was seen walking towards the commentary box while talking on the phone. As he walked past the crowd, they chanted “Kohli Kohli” and teased him.

This didn’t go well with Gautam Gambhir as he looked irritated by the crowd’s gesture and he reacted by showing them middle finger. This video of this incident has gone viral on the internet. Here’s the clip:

This all started in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 after Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were engaged in a fight during the game between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The duo shared a verbal altercation after Kohli’s on-field battle with Naveen-ul-Haq.

However, after that match, whenever Gautam Gambhir and Naveen-ul-Haq were on the field near the boundary ropes, the crowd wasn’t kind to them. They chanted “Kohli Kohli” loudly and lashed out at the LSG duo for fighting with Virat Kohli.

IND vs NEP: That was a nothing shot – Gautam Gambhir on Virat Kohli’s dismissal against Pakistan

Virat Kohli fell for just 4 runs against Pakistan in Pallekele. The batter tried to punch the length delivery outside off through the off-side. But he ended up getting an inside edge and the ball shattered the stumps.
Gautam Gambhir believes that it was a casual shot as Virat Kohli didn’t know if he had to go forward or back. Speaking on Star Sports, he explained:

“That was a nothing shot, neither forward, neither back. I think was a bit casual. That’s what you get when you play someone like Shaheen Afridi. You don’t know whether to go forward or back.”

Coming to the match, Pakistan left India tottering at 66/4. But after that, Ishan Kishan (82) and Hardik Pandya (89) stitched a valiant 138-run partnership to bail India out of trouble. Their valuable contributions powered India to a total of 266 runs. The second innings didn’t take place as the game was called off due to rain.
