Team India will host South Africa for five T20 International matches in June. The series will begin just 10 days after the conclusion of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The five-match T20I series will resume India’s roadmap for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia later this year in the October-November period.

The squad for the forthcoming T20I series against South Africa is likely to be announced during the IPL 2022 playoffs (May 24-29).

The selectors will have a keen eye on emerging players of this IPL edition and they might give chance to the pool of talented players considering India will play against England in July followed by the Asia Cup in the August-September window.

With too many options available at the disposal, the competition amongst the players will be stiff. Let us look at three such players who will need to prove their mettle if they get selected for the T20I squad.

IND vs SA: 3 Indian Players For Whom This Could Be Last Chance To Prove Their Case For ICC T20 World Cup 2022

1) Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar is leading the formidable SRH bowling attack in the IPL 2022. The senior SRH bowler picked nine wickets from nine games at an economy rate of 7.29.

Bhuvneshwar was part of India’s T20 World Cup squad in UAE last year. He was benched after the first game against Pakistan.

However, Bhuvneshwar continued to play for India in the bilateral T20I series against New Zealand, West Indies, and Sri Lanka.

His form in IPL 2022 isn’t bad that would ax him from the Indian team.

Considering the emerging players like his own SRH teammates Umran Malik and T Natarajan, Bhuvneshwar could be sidelined as India already have Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah in their squad.
