The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) have agreed to play 2 additional T20Is against West Indies on the tour later in the year, as per Cricbuzz.

Following the World Test Championship final in June, India will tour West Indies in July-August, in what is currently considered to be the Men in Blue’s final ODI bilateral series before the Asia Cup and the World Cup.

It was initially decided that the tour will consist of 8 games – 2 Tests, 3 ODIs, and 3 T20Is. It is now understood that the two sides will play 5 T20Is during the tour.

Indian players have a packed schedule for the following year. The 2-month long IPL is right around the corner, which will be followed by the World Test Championship Final from 7-11 June, just over a week after IPL ends.

IPL 2023 | India National Cricket Team | Chennai Super Kings (CSK) | Delhi Capitals (DC) | Gujarat Titans (GT) | Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) | Lucknow Supergiants (LSG) | Mumbai Indians (MI) | Punjab Kings (PBKS) | Rajasthan Royals (RR) | Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) | SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH)

WTC final will be followed by the month-long tour to the West Indies, which will most probably start in the first week of July and end in August. This will lead into a 3-match T20I series against Ireland in the latter half of August.

Then comes the big tournament. First, the 50-over incarnation of the Asia Cup in September, which might see India take on Pakistan up to 3 times. Finally, to round off the season, the ODI World Cup is on home soil in October-November.

BCCI reportedly looking to add another bilateral series in what is already a packed year for the India National Cricket Team

In what is already a jam-packed year for the Men’s National Team, BCCI is looking to insert another small bilateral series into the calendar.

In the Indian team’s schedule laid out above, there is just one spot where there might be some space to add another series, in the second half of June.

The Indian cricket board is looking to add a 3-match series for Men in Blue to play in the latter half of June, or more specifically, immediately following the WTC final.

This will probably be a home series, to be played against Sri Lanka or Afghanistan. Although, no confirmation of such a series taking place has come out yet.

While many might consider this schedule as an excessive burden on the regular players, others might see it as essential match practice in a crucial year for team India.
