India Playing 11 vs Australia – 1st ODI, 2023. India take on Australia in a three-match ODI series heading into the ODI World Cup 2023. The first ODI will be played in Mohali on September 22, Friday. The second ODI will be played on September 234, Sunday and the third on Wednesday, September 27.
KL Rahul will lead the Indian team in the first two games with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli rested. Kuldeep Yadav is also rested for the first two games. Ravichandran Ashwin has been recalled into the side in the absence of Axar Patel who is missing the first two games due to an injury. Washington Sundat retains his place in the Asia Cup 2023 final.
The focus will be on a few other players namely Shreyas Iyerm Suryakumar Yadav and Mohd Siraj. Iyer played just one game in the Asia Cup but still was retained in the side for the Australis series. With Hardik Pandya not there, SKY is expected to get at least two games and for Siraj, the hope will be he replicates his Asia Cup final performance.
So far the two teams have played 146 ODIs with Australia winning 82 and India 54 matches. In India, out of 67 matches, the Aussies have won 32 games while Team India 30. Five matches ended with no result.
India lost the last ODI series that they played against Australia earlier this year 2-1. In this article, we look at the possible India for the first ODI without Rohit and Kohli.

Shubman Gill will open the batting for India. He is fresh off a successful Asia Cup campaign. He has scored over 1,000 runs in the calendar year so far and will look to add to his tally. Gill is a part of India’s WC squad.
